Optical Fiber OTDR Testing

We perform OTDR testing of fiber-optic networks to accurately detect defects, assess splice quality, and reduce signal loss.

MOSCOS provides optical time-domain reflectometry (OTDR) testing for diagnostics of spliced fiber sections and condition monitoring of communication lines. This service helps identify irregularities along the route, locate damage points, and evaluate connection parameters. Based on the diagnostics, we deliver a detailed report, practical recommendations, and prepare a route passport.

Our focus areas

  • Loss diagnostics: detection of sections with increased attenuation and signs of line irregularities.
  • Cable damage location: determination of fault location based on measurement distance data.
  • Splice quality control: evaluation of fusion splice quality and optical line parameters.
  • Route passport preparation: documentation of cable condition and network nodes.

What we do

  • Perform measurements: conduct OTDR testing to obtain objective data on fiber condition.
  • Identify problematic sections: detect attenuation points and other irregularities along the route.
  • Locate faults: determine the exact distance to cable damage based on test results.
  • Assess splice quality: analyze fusion splice parameters and connection quality.
  • Prepare a route passport: document cable condition and network nodes following diagnostics.
  • Provide report and recommendations: deliver a detailed report with conclusions and corrective actions.

Value for the client

  • Clear understanding of line condition: transparent overview of the route, nodes, and splice quality.
  • Accurate fault localization: identification of sections with deviations and precise damage locations.
  • Actionable report: documented findings to support repair planning and network improvement decisions.
  • Route passport: up-to-date documentation reflecting cable and network node condition.

Who this is for

  • Telecom operators: commissioning, operation, and quality control of backbone and distribution fiber networks.
  • Corporate networks: diagnostics of optical lines on facilities and verification of connection quality.
  • After splicing works: confirmation of splice quality and line parameters.
  • When performance degrades: in cases of signal loss, instability, or suspected cable damage.

Why MOSCOS

  • Calibrated equipment: measurements performed using certified and calibrated instruments.
  • Precise diagnostics: OTDR testing detects defects and deviations along the route at distance.
  • Documented results: comprehensive report and formal route passport included.
  • Practical approach: diagnostics translated into clear actions for repair and network optimization.

MOSCOS performs OTDR testing of fiber-optic networks for splice quality control and route diagnostics, providing a final report and route passport.
